Biography:
Jimmy was born July 1, 1993 in Dover, Delaware. By the time Jimmy turned 3 years old, all he wanted to do was drive anything he could get his hands on. Whenever his father would get out the tractor, Jimmy would beg to be the driver. It is a surprise there was any grass left in the yard with the amount of laps he was doing. At age five, Jimmy's father took him to his first go-kart race, and that is where it all began. Jimmy's father purchased his first go-kart and within a few weeks Jimmy was on the track taking his first win. After six years...
3 championships, and over 100 wins, Jimmy's go-kart career ended as he moved on to bigger things. Jimmy's parents took him to a race track in Bridgeville, Delaware when he was twelve and introduced him to Modified-Lites and Micro racing. Jimmy's Mod-Lite racing career began a short time later, and over the first three years Jimmy has recorded win after win, bringing his career Mod-Lites total to over 25 wins. By the end of the 2008 season, Jimmy had earned a Championship in the Pro Mod-Lite division, and captured a TUSA regional win at Delmarva Motorsports Park. In addition, in November 2008 Jimmy won the Champ Show weekend at Delaware International Speedway earning him the Delaware Dirt Track State Championship title at the age of 15, the youngest racer to ever win this award. In February, 2009, Jimmy had the opportunity to race at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Florida. It was four days of great, exciting racing with Jimmy surprising many with a strong 3rd place finish in the TUSA Winter Nationals.
In March, 2009, Jimmy teamed up with Charlie Patterson of Indianapolis, Indiana. Charlie has formed the Nex Gen Motorsports group focused on representation for younger driver athletes. Jimmy is extremely excited about this opportunity and is looking forward to working with Charlie in many key areas of development. Soon after forming this partnership, in May, Jimmy was given the opportunity to attend the Finish Line Racing School in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Under the direction of Mike and Crystal Loescher, Jimmy drove an asphalt late model for two days, resulting in fast drive times, being able to take directions well, and taking advantage of instructor feedback that he was able to simultaneously apply while driving. Jimmy received very positive reviews from both Mike and Crystal even earning a call from Mike back home to his mother.
Jimmy is looking forward to racing in his new Late Model at the Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas Va. Recently, he competed in the Asphalt World Series Late Model races in February 2010. He was very consistent on the stopwatch and started 28th and finished 16th in his first race. In 3 days of racing, he continued to improve use sound judgment and raced well with others.
